The Power of Social Media in Our Schools
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

An innovative educator's role today is to share and model learning for all stakeholders. The first step is to embrace social media as an essential tool to communicate, celebrate, and collaborate in our schools. Through Twitter, we can communicate important events, as well as celebrate learning. In addition, educators can build a PLN to collaborate and learn any time. This session will provide various examples of how to use Twitter and and other social media platforms in the school setting, as well as tools such as Tweetdeck and Buffer to manage this SM presence to save time and maximize its effectiveness with all stakeholders.

Bring Making to Your School
Limited Capacity seats available

In schools, Makerspaces have increased in popularity, housing a variety of materials from low-tech arts and crafts to high-tech software and electronics for students to experiment with and build their own designs. It is about play, students tinkering to discover, children experimenting to learn, and students building what they dream. In an age of accountability and standardization, these elements have been steadily removed from schools and classrooms. A Makerspace has the potential to put it all back in place. Even so, making a Makerspace come to life in a school is not an easy task. This session will explore how we not only created a Makerspace in our school, but how we are putting making back into our classrooms. We will share how we built our Makerspace and incorporated the concepts into our curriculum and instruction.
