Is your school transitioning to 1:1? Are you already there? Are you looking for a more interactive way to teach using devices? The Flipped Classroom can be an awesome option for you as a teacher! The Flipped Classroom is an excellent way to free up class time to work on more hands-on and applicable activities with your students. With this learning model, students take notes outside of classroom time so that when they come to class, you can have more individual time to go over misunderstood information or have a more engaging lesson than a lecture or student note taking. If you are like me, a social studies teacher, you know that lectures are an important part of content delivery. This is a way to eliminate the amount of class time used on this method. During this session, I will discuss what the flipped classroom is all about, how it has changed my teaching and the student's learning, what I am now able to do with more class time, and the benefits that have come from it. Topics that will also be discussed will be the learning management system of Canvas, my voice recording system of Screencastify, and Project Based Learning. I will also look towards the future for more unique opportunities that our Chromebooks and the Flipped Classroom will allow for our students and teachers.

Please bring with you a device and a "traditional" lesson plan that includes the homework you would assign at the end of the lesson.  We will be creating your own flipped lesson!
