In this session, we will explore the need to give students a real audience for their writing. I will share my Choose Your Own Adventure and Around the World projects. Both projects took research to a new audience using technology rather than simply writing up the research for only a teacher to read. My students shared their interactive CYOA slide shows with younger grades. In the Around the World project, students worked to build websites to share the information they found with other students in the building. Students visiting a country explored the site and read about the country before taking a Forms quiz on the site. A successful quiz scored earned a stamp in the passports my students use in their geography classes. I will also share my Pass It On project which brings together persuasive writing and philanthropy.
